My Story
It felt as though a missing puzzle piece had finally fallen into place. For the first time, I had found something I truly burned for in a way I never had during my 15 years in fashion. I realized that supporting women had always been at the heart of what I wanted to do—I simply needed to do it on a more meaningful level. After moving from Germany to North Carolina with my husband, I completed my training and became certified as a birth doula. In 2025, I founded babe you birth and began turning that passion into the work I feel I was meant to do.
Since then, I have had the honor of supporting incredible families through hospital births and home births, as well as guiding moms virtually across the United States. Every family, every story, and every birth is different, and being invited into such a personal space is something I will never take lightly. My support is not about telling you how you should give birth. Whether you are preparing for an unmedicated birth, an epidural, an induction, a C-section, a VBAC, a hospital birth, or a home birth, my role is to help you understand your options and make decisions that feel right for you and your baby.
As a military wife, I also understand what it can feel like to build a life far away from your familiar support system. Pregnancy and birth can already feel overwhelming, and navigating deployments, unpredictable schedules, or distance from family can make having reliable support even more important. My approach combines evidence-based education with genuine emotional and physical care. I want you to feel heard without having to fight for it, informed without becoming overwhelmed, and confident enough to use your own voice.
Birth is more than a medical event. It is a deeply personal and transformative experience that deserves to be treated with care, dignity and respect. Whether I’m standing beside you in a birth room here in North Carolina or supporting you virtually from somewhere else in the world, my goal remains the same:

Hi, I’m Laura!
I’m a German-born, certified birth doula, and founder of babe you birth. I support families throughout Eastern North Carolina and virtually across the U.S. and worldwide in both English and German.
My path into birth work wasn’t exactly traditional. I spent more than 15 years working in the fashion industry in Germany. I loved the creativity and self-expression of that world, and over the years, I worked my way into leadership, managing stores, teams and everything that came with them.
But when I turned 30, I remember having this moment of realization: Is this it? Is this what I’m going to do for the rest of my life?
And deep down, I already knew the answer was no. I knew I wanted to support women, but on a much deeper level. I didn’t just want to help someone find the right dress or feel confident in how she looked. I wanted to do something that truly mattered—something that could make a fundamental difference during one of the most important and transformative moments of a woman’s life. It took me a few years to discover what that “something” was.
Then, during a breathing workshop in Munich, I met a doula.
I had always said that if I ever had children, I would want a doula by my side. But if I’m honest, I didn’t really understand everything a doula did or what that kind of support could look like.
After talking with her, I went down the ultimate birth-work rabbit hole. I researched, read, watched countless videos, and learned everything I could about pregnancy, birth, and the role of a doula.
